The Physical Therapy department at Arizona Bone and Joint provides treatment for a variety of physical ailments and disabilities.  Physical therapy can help to reduce pain and improve mobility and strength.  Treatment goals range from something as simple as reducing back pain and stiffness in order to improve your golf swing to something as complex as rehabilitation after a total joint reconstruction.

Each new patient is evaluated to determine strength, range of motion, posture, and motor function.  This evaluation will allow the therapist to develop the most effective treatment plan for each individual patient.  Treatments plans will address increased strength and range of motion, proper posture, gait pattern, and correct body mechanics.  Treatment plans will also address a patient's ability to be independent with daily living activities as well as the prevention of future injuries.  Treatments include exercise, electrical stimulation (to control pain and reeducate muscles), therapeutic ultrasound (to control pain and swelling), massage therapy (to control pain, stiffness, swelling, and to minimize scarring), and phototherapy (laser/light therapy), as well as moist heat and cold compresses.

The physical therapy department here at Arizona Bone and Joint is perfect for people who prefer personal attention and consistent care rather than larger clinical settings with multiple therapists and assistants.  The staff is small and knowledgeable, which means consistent, one on one care and treatment is a priority.  Physical therapist Dana Douglass has been practicing physical therapy for nearly twenty years.  She is a graduate of Shippensburg State College, of Pennsylvania, and in 1984 received a Master of Science Degree in Physical therapy from Beaver College.

Massage therapy is available for both patients and non-patients.  A Swedish relaxation massage may be exactly what you need to relieve stress or reduce aches and pains from chronic and acute injuries.  If you don't think a massage is right for you, it could still make a great gift for a friend of loved one.  Gift certificates are available for massage services.  For questions regarding massage therapy services, or to schedule an appointment, please call (602) 485-3050.
